Enabling 'Home Delivery' (Local Delivery) in AIMstorefront

Modified on Wed, 16 Sep 2020 at 01:30 PM

For AIM 12 ONLY, it is possible to configure a Local / Home Delivery shipping method.

Store owners may offer a local delivery service - usually inside a geographic area which can be designated by state, zip codes or zone.

The shopper can choose the date/time of the delivery if setup to do so.

The administrator can determine how much notice the store needs, and also how many deliveries can happen during a period of time. The time increments available for local delivery are set by the administrator in AIM 12.

The administrator can determine the fee for a local delivery,

SETUP EXAMPLE

Imagine a store wants to offer local delivery. The store has a van and a driver, and decides to offer local delivery in 2 hour periods from 8 am until 4 pm every weekday.

They figure that if they restrict the delivery area to three zip codes (10111, 10112 and 10113) then they can handle two deliveries in every 2 hour period.

In AIM 12, they select a Location to use for their Home Delivery by navigating to:

Maintenance > Active-e > Create Time Slots and set up the time slots as shown below:

BE SURE to set the Type as DELIVERY for the Home Delivery Location, and that it is the only Location set as such. The name of the chosen location does not display so you only need to choose one that is not being used for the In-Store / Curbside Pickup option. Designate those Locations as Type: In-Store.

In AIMStorefront, they configure the settings as shown in the image below, by going to:

Configuration > Shipping Calculation > Home Delivery (bottom of page, and be sure to click SAVE then REFRESH STORE after making changes)
