Why Can't I Use FTP?

Modified on Mon, 06 Feb 2023 at 04:52 PM

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) provides the capability of transferring files between a client (computer) & server (hosted files). Popularly used for uploading images and some customizations

December 2022 – AIMStorefront Version 1.38 Release Notes: Vortx announced the implementation of increased security measures by removing FTP access for all Non-Ultra AIMStorefront users.

Hackers and the like are continuously looking for new and creative ways to expose risks and vulnerabilities in the eCommerce market. To protect the sensitive data of clients and their customers, the open-access nature of FTP has been fully removed and replaced with an alternative method of managing site files (Non-Ultra users only).

Now, users may use the new File Manager in Admin Console to upload images, PDFs, downloadable files, and other content to their site (no file type limitations), from the root images folders.

From the Admin Console > Content > Manage Files

Site customization(s) may be performed here based on the file types uploaded into the root images folder.

January 2023 – AIMStorefront Version 1.39 Release Notes: Vortx announced new CSS and JavaScript Customization Topics.

These new topics are created and readily available to incorporate custom code and styling into your site without editing site files through FTP

•CustomFontCss

•CustomOverrideCss

JavaScript Topics
